Lorna Luxe in shock debt confession

Lorna Luxe recently made an admission that many can relate to: she used credit cards to fund a lifestyle that she couldn’t afford.

On the We Need To Talk podcast, Lorna shared that she and her husband John embraced the “fake it until you make it” culture, putting lavish holidays and designer handbags on credit to portray a “luxe” lifestyle.

This aspirational and aesthetic lifestyle portrayal helped one of the true OG influencers grow her platform and in turn, her influence on the sartorial choices and purchases of thousands.  But behind the scenes, the mirage was one fuelled by credit.

It was a risky manoeuvre that luckily for them paid off – they now rake in up to £80,000 per month revenue from lifestyle brands wanting to partner with them in exchange for product promotion and access to their engaged audience.

Many people wrongly presumed her husband was ‘the money’ in the relationship, but she corrected the common misconception on the podcast – the business partners jointly curated this lifestyle for the aesthetic Instagram feed.

Whilst it’s hard not to feel duped by this revelation, Lorna’s honesty is refreshing and may help to reinforce that social media is not what it seems.  It would help if more influencers were transparent about how their (perceived) lifestyles were funded, so that the rest of us mere mortals don’t feel so bad about not owning the latest Birkin to take with us on our yacht trip to Mykonos.
